NZMATES participates in the 9th Indo EBTKE ConEx 2020 conference

The 9th Indo EBTKE ConEx 2020, organized by the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) and fully supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, was recently held virtually due to the pandemic.

Two NZMATES team members, Deputy Programme Manager Safitri Yanti Baharuddin and Renewable Energy Technical Specialist Kurnia Setiawan, were invited as speakers in two separate sessions.

On Wednesday, November 25th, Kurnia presented in a session titled ‘Geospatial Least-Cost Renewable Energy Planning in Eastern Indonesia’ hosted by MENTARI. He elaborated on lessons learned from the field, collaboration with PLN, O&M tools, and hybrid power plants in Maluku.

Meanwhile, Safitri presented in a session titled ‘Promoting the Enabling Environment to Accelerate Solar-PV Development in Southeast Asia’ on Thursday, November 26th, where she focused on NZMATES’ capacity building efforts in Maluku.

The New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia H.E Jonathan Austin also participated and spoke at the ‘Lessons Learnt from New Zealand in Formulating the Scenario of 2050 Energy Transition’ session on Tuesday, November 24th.

The conference provided a platform for future collaboration and knowledge exchange between key players in the national renewable energy sector, and we are hopeful for a more vibrant renewable energy sector in Indonesia!
