Maryam Muthiah Karimah

Renewable Energy Technical Specialist


Maryam is a renewable energy and sustainability enthusiast who graduated from M.Eng in Energy Systems program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. She focuses on the energy market and renewable energy systems. She was responsible for developing green and renewable energy projects throughout Indonesia in her previous company. Therefore, she was exposed to international interaction with some major technology companies across the world. She also successfully managed the first Combined Cooling Heating and Power (CCHP) system project using Capstone Microturbine in Ambon, Indonesia. She also developed a Solar Water Purifier project to help people in developing countries to access clean water.

Having research experience in building energy science, Maryam is certified as a LEED Green Associate. Moreover, she also has a certification in Strategic Technology Management from her University. These prove her expertise to manage energy and environment-related projects. Maryam has the ability to use software such as GAMS, HOMERPro, EnergyPlus, PVSyst, Visual Basic, AutoCAD, SketchUp, DesignBuilder, Matlab, etc.

As Renewable Energy Technical Specialist (RETS) with NZMATES, she responsible for carrying out technical assessments for potential renewable energy projects, grid-connected and off-grid, calculating economic cost for project budgets, developing long term sustainable business models, designing project delivery methodologies and schedules from conceptual design and detailed engineering, to tendering processes, implementation, operation and maintenance. She supports and works directly with the NZMATES Community Engagement team, as well as with PLN and ESDM.
