Developed at the Stockholm Environment Institute, the LEAP (Low Emissions Analysis Platform) software is a tool that is widely used for energy policy analysis and climate change mitigation assessment, including as a planning tool and as the basis for regional energy plans (RUED) documents.
As part of NZMATES’s support towards finalizing Maluku’s RUED, an online training on the LEAP software was held from 18 to 22 January, 2021. The training was conducted by Bapak Erick Hutrindo, from the New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation’s Education and Training Center (PPSDM EBTKE). Topics such as RUED development guidance, energy modelling (supply, demand, resources & emissions), and identifying data sources, were covered. 10 staff from Dinas ESDM Maluku attended the 5-day training, along with NZMATES staff.
Thank you Bapak Erick for the guidance and to Dinas ESDM Maluku staff for your participation. We are hopeful that the training will contribute positively to planning for a more renewable future for Maluku.
